Lipson Cafe, Port Adelaide

"poor"
Well, first glance of the Lipson Cafe shows that, potentially it can be a great venue. unfortunately, the reality of this Cafe is that it obviously doesn't value its clientelle very much and the food was nothing short of woeful. Firstly, 3 of us ordered coffees. All came out wrong. Not one coffee was made as per requested. Then the food...If you could call it that. The chicken caccitore was rubber chicken mixed with ready made pasta sauce + plus rice. Oh dear. Oh dear. Even the salvos wouldn't serve that rot. And certainly not at $16 a serve. My meal was a simple ceasar salad. Now the bacon had certainly been cooked to death and the chef had forgotten to put the anchovies in. I called over the waitress to ask for anchovies, to which she replies 'I'll get them now.' 20 minutes later, no anchovies, no nothing. This is the time where crap rises to the top, as I approach the counter, explain to the man with the beard serving coffee about how the coffees were all wrong & the food was poor. The only reply I get is "It's just been one of those days". Not good enough. Of course, no one approaches our table to offer even the slightest apology or give any concern. We leave knowing that the Lipson Cafe is one Cafe we would never go back to and hope you wouldn't waste your time with either. …

The venue was excellent and we had a lot of compliments from attendees. The cocktail food was excellent - there was a good range provided and some healthy selections - a nice change from the standard function food. …

"Absolutely Appalling Customer Service"
We recently organised a farewell at the Marryatville Hotel, I rang from Melbourne 4 weeks prior to organise, and to make sure that there would be food available, the playground would be open, and that there would be tables, and we would be there between 2pm and 5pm. When we arrived the kitchen closed at 2pm, we were not allowed to sit in the seating area, as they wanted to set up for dinner 4 hours before, and they closed the playground for the children at 2.30pm. When I complained to the manager, he was unapologetic and rude, as were the rest of the staff. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, avoid it and choose a more people friendly and child friendly hotel, where the staff actually enjoy their job rather than being rude to customers. …
