Adelaide Show - February 2010

?The greatest punk rock??n??roll disco soul band on the planet. Gossip are mind-blowing. Everyone needs to hear this band and dance like there?s no tomorrow.? NME

We are most pleased to announce the return of genre-bending DIY post-punk rock trio Gossip to Australia. Already announced to appear at Good Vibrations Festival nationally, the band now announce a headline show in Adelaide on Thursday 18 February at Thebarton Theatre.

And just to top it off, they will be joined by very special guests Friendly Fires out of the UK, who follow up an almighty sold out Australian tour that solidified their reputation as one of the best live acts around.

With the release of their highly anticipated album Music For Men earlier this year, the band continues on their upward trajectory with singles ?Heavy Cross?, ?Dimestore Diamond? and ?Love Long Distance? all over your radio. Produced by Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin, the record brings a new level of lyrical power and musical sophistication to their ever-evolving, always-electrifying sound and sensibility.

Originally formed in 1999 in Olympia, Washington, Gossip is vocalist Beth Ditto, guitarist Brace Paineand drummer Hannah Billie. A hybrid of soul, gospel, rock, funk, disco, punk, passion and rebellion, this three piece from Portland, Oregon first garnered attention in the UK with the release of the breakthrough album Standing In The Way Of Control in 2006. The band is led by the inimitable Beth Ditto ? larger than life, forthright, rebel rousing and infectious. Beths vocals have been compared to such legends as Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner although her and the bands sound is uniquely their own.

Added to the bill will be the enormously popular Friendly Fires, who return from the UK off the back of a completely sold out Australian tour, which included a memorable performance at Splendour In The Grass.

Do not miss out on this incredibly special opportunity to catch two of the most thrilling and must-see live acts in the world, together for one show in Adelaide this February.
