Tom Binns – Television Star, TV Writer, Radio Star, ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Contender, Hospital Radio DJ, And Now, Spirit Comedium!!
Tom Binns has worked on many of Britain’s top TV shows as an actor, host and sketch writer with his writing work being nominated in the BBC and Channel 4 polls for “Best Comedy Moment” and “Best TV Moment”. As a radio announcer, Tom hosted a breakfast show on XFM in London. He and the station agreed to part company after a number of his comments caused it to receive what was then the largest fine issued by the UK’s radio regulatory body. A stint with another station came to a sudden end after Tom committed ‘high treason’ by interrupting the Queen’s Christmas message with jokes about the monarchy. Binns’ experiences in radio gave rise to his highly successful character and 2010 show ‘Ivan Brackenbury - “the most deliciously enjoyable hour I've spent on the Fringe” (The Guardian). Now, continuing with his massive success as a character comic, the twice nominated ‘Best Established Comedian” Tom Binns as “Ian D Montford – spirit medium” brings this sold out Edinburgh Fringe show to Adelaide. ‘The ability to contact the dead has now become second nature to me’ says Tom, who showcased Ian last year at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe “2010 was about learning how to drive my new comedy vehicle, this year is about finding places to go in it - now I can really focus on using the dead in my comedy show” he said Spirit Comedium mixes wonderfully observed comedy with inexplicable clairvoyant revelations. Celebrated by sceptics and believers, audiences and critics alike, Ian D Montfort ready to showcase his jaw-dropping talents. There’s a good reason why Tom’s enjoyed sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival since 2007 – he’s bloody funny! But don't just take our word for it... In 2010, The Age dubbed Tom Binn’s show as “The Underground Hit of the Melbourne Comedy Festival”. This year Time Out hailed his “Ian D Montfort” as “The Monster Hit ” of the Edinburgh Fringe - ????? “the character remains hilarious even as the tricks become remarkable… two shows for the price of one: pin-sharp character comedy and metaphysical magic to boot …Binns has his character absolutely nailed, and mines the comic seam ruthlessly to create top-quality entertainment with universal appeal." The Guardian ‘Critics Choice” – The Guardian and The Times, Edinburgh Fringe 2011 ?????: Time Out London; Metro; Telegraph; Chortle; Spotlight; & Fringe Review, 2011 Tom Binns will also present his award winning character, Ivan Brackenbury, at the Comedy Mint, Mosley Square, 10.30pm every Saturday during the Fringe. - Chortle Award Nominee 2011 - Top 50 Most Memorable Gigs of the Decade, Chortle 2000-10 - Top 10 Fosters Comedy God 2010 - Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee 2007 Tom Binns as Ian D Montfort at The Garden of Unearthly Delights: Feb 17 – March 18 @ 8.15pm
