This event has now passed

Dutch performer Bart van Oort is one of the finest exponents of the fortepiano today, having recorded more than 40 CDs in the past ten years including several complete sets of major composers keyboard works. This appearance in Brisbane will see him reunited with an instrument which he played during his studies with Malcolm Bilson at Cornell University USA the c. 1795 Walther style fortepiano, built by Bakemann of Seattle in 1980, and acquired by the Conservatorium in the year 2000. This instrument is ideally suited to this program of three works each by Haydn and Mozart a sonata, a fantasy, and a set of variations. The tonality of C major/minor dominates as another reference point, being closely related to that of the works A flat and F minor, and thus a unity of mood and affect.

Program

Haydn Andante and Variations in f minor Hob. XVII:6

Haydn Sonata in A flat Hob. XVI:46
