Gregory Massingham has been an inspiring contributor to a number of Southern Cross Concerts in recent years and his dramatic and moving narration of Beethovens Music to Goethes Egmont was one of the hightlights of the 2007 season. In 2008 Greg narrates Griegs brilliant incidental music to Ibsens play Peer Gynt, which will also feature viola virtuoso Patricia Pollett, one of the stars of the 2007 Bangelow Festival. The classical elegance of Pleyels delightful Quintet opens this programme while Haydns rarely heard cantata Arianna a Naxos acknowledged as one of his greatest masterpieces completes a thrilling nights entertainment.
