ENTRIES are now open for Queensland’s biggest and best fun run – The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane, to be held on Father’s Day – Sunday 7 September.

Online entries, entry forms and full race details are available from today at bridgetobrisbane.com.au until midnight on Friday 5 September 2008.

Plus, there is extra incentive to enter early for this year’s event. As an early entry bonus, participants have the chance to win a Suzuki Swift if they enter by 5.00pm on Friday 29 August.

2008 Race Ambassador and former rugby league great, Steve Renouf, is excited to be participating in The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane for the first time this year.

“I am really looking forward to being involved in such an iconic community event. My entire family is competing this year and it’s going to be a huge family achievement for us when we cross the finish line at the Ekka Showgrounds.” Steve said.

“There will be a fantastic line-up of entertainment and fun activities following the run, so it should be an extra special Father’s Day and a great family day out,” he said.

Organisers are expecting a record number of over 30,000 participants to complete the race at the new finish line, the Ekka Showgrounds in Bowen Hills. With the Ekka Showgrounds designed to host large-scale events, it will be easier for competitors to find parking or catch public transport home post-race.
The new finish venue and date aren't the only changes – distances also have changed to make the fun run even more accessible.
There are two race distances; the 10km for the keen runners and walkers, or participants can take on the shorter 5km course.

Since 1997, more than $2 million has been raised for Queensland charities. Proceeds from this year’s Event will go to Youngcare, whose mission is to provide dignified and relevant lifestyles for young Australians with high care needs.

Entry forms for Bridge to Brisbane are also available at all SEQ Suncorp branches and from McDonald’s Brisbane restaurants.

Further information about The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane can be found at bridgetobrisbane.com.au.
