In a unique, figurative style that is poetic, spiritual and sometimes quirky, Regina relies on the contribution of the viewer to translate each work into his or her own personal reality.

There are stories and every day observances behind most of these paintings and drama in the universals of companionship, love, age and human nature. Regina’s paintings are populated with stylized human beings and animals with an inclination towards imagery which is innocent and spontaneous. Her works evoke a sense of urgency to which the viewer is drawn.

Artist Statement by Regina Noakes
“I do not attempt to dramatize the stories and often find myself recreating episodes and characters in my own visual language. The unreality of the tales has a wild familiarity. We have all had encounters with the absurd and I wouldn't dream of closing the possibilities of these paintings to either myself or the viewer by analysing or describing them. The fact that the viewer will always have their own perspective or feelings about the picture is as important as my own viewpoint"
