Tinder by Katherine Lyall-Watson

Ned is a young, crippled man who has never left the remote, rural Queensland property he lives on with his mother, Martha. Mother and son exist quite happily in a make believe world, fashioned by the Brothers Grimm, until strange occurrences start to take place in their home and the reality of the outside world breaks into the fairytale one Martha created.

Katherine co-founded a theatre company during the fringe theatre boom of the 1990s. This gave her the opportunity to direct, construct and paint sets, scavenge costumes, design programs and learn marketing and publicity. She took a hiatus from theatre to have a family and came back to it as a theatre reviewer. Four years of theatre reviewing saw her becoming the Chair of the Matilda Awards, South-east Queenslands pre-eminent theatre awards. She has completed an MA in Playwriting at QUT and is the editor at Queensland Writers Centre and the theatre reviewer for Brisbane News.
