Subtrakt residents Rikki Newton and Adam Swain celebrate their birthdays this month by throwing a birthday bash at their beloved Barsoma with guests Dan Abbott, Jerry Drew and Paleo-tech.

JERRY DREW

Recently relocating to the warmer climates of Brisbane from the UK, Jerry left behind an impressive trail of club damage crisscrossing Europe from his base in London. Institutions such as Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Turnmills, The Cross and Es Vive felt the not so subtle bump of Jerry in the middle of the night, often alongside heavyweights including Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling, Seb Fontaine, Judge Jules, and Marshall Jefferson to name a few.

With almost two decades experience running underground clubs, and thoroughly smashing parties in locations as far as Moscow, Athens, Berlin, Ibiza, Milan and now of course Brisbane, we welcome Jerry to subtrakt for the first time.

PALEO-TECH

After learning that playing 'La Ventoline' rather loudly on a Tuesday night at Calypso is probably a bad idea (even if it's fun), and that belt drive turntables really are shit to learn on, palaeo-tech finally got something right and received third place in the 2008 Central Station DJ Comp [may the grand old record store rest in peace].

Now, with a few gigs at revered Brisbane club Barsoma under his belt [including a three hour warm up for A Guy Called Gerald], palaeo-tech is well and truly ready to prove that Ricardo Villalobos records really do work pretty much anywhere.

On the always related note, he also writes for Brisbane street press standout Time Off and hence Street Press Australia which means you can also occasionally catch his words in, 3D World, Drum Media and Inpress, not forgetting forget In The Mix either – that's where his writing really started after all!
