HQ Poo Poo @ HQ On Lytton

I recently had the grave misfortune of picking HQ On Lytton for a rather expensive family dinner. I guess the only positive that came out of this experience is that my entire family and I now know to next time choose a restaurant that believes in providing decent food with some resemblance of customer service. The food was ill-timed and stone cold in most instances, although I’m not sure if being served on time or at an appropriate temperature would have been of any benefit as the dishes were unbearable. The customer service, or lack there of, especially when we notified the staff of our experience was a total disgrace and I would expect an establishment that relies on repeat business would be at least in some way concerned about this.

Overall: Hate it!

Service- REALLY BAD!! Had a birthday party there. Even invited 20 guests.Thought they would appreciate a big crowd ( = huge profit). Nasty welcome- table was not ready even though it was booked for that time. Some guests were coming slightly later so we wanted to order first but restaurant owners didn't allow it! Yes, DID NOT allow- can you believe it? They even asked how late the others would come - if too late, they would give away our seats (there were only 3 ppl late) to other customers! How RUDE! I booked the place 2 weeks beforehand. So we had to wait for EVERYONE to come before we are ALLOWED to order.

Food was a rip off. Too small portions and the side dishes were awful- even KFC had better coleslaw!

$$ wise- NO VALUE. Tried to rip us off. We had an entertainment card which allowed $35 value discount. They tried a dodgy by discounting on the cheapest meal we had ie. $19! Lucky we saw the bill- made a fuss...they tried all sorts of excuses. But excuse me, we can read the terms and conditions.

None of us are ever going back there. Highly recommend anyone else not to bother with this place. You can have a better bbq at your own place anytime anyday! :)

Only thing worse than the terrible food was the disgraceful service. The wait staff are the most incompetent I have ever had the displeasure of meeting.

I am not happy with the wintergarden staffs actions towards myself and 4 of my colleages. The treatment by the front staff was dispicable. I will not be returning unless a full refund is given. This establishment needs to rethink the standards that they have set and comply to them. As to the poor actions by staff this ruined not only a special occasion but would not refund money or even offer any assistance. I would be dismayed to think other people were being treated like this, this is not fair. I hope you see fit to fire staff that are rude and impolite.

arana hills is best sitar @ Sitar Express Indian Take away - Arana Hills

I went to many Sitar Restaurants and Arana Hills is the best by far and the cheapest too. All the restaurants are packed and double the price so I went to Arana Hills and ordered there and couldn't believe how cheap it was compared to the other Sitars. You can dine in too if you want and you get the same friendly service and no extra charges. It was the best and very yummy.

I've visited twice in a search for the best steak in Brisbane.

Good points:
* Friendly and accommodating wait staff
* The T-Bone I had the first time was great, good enough to have me wanting to come back again, even if my wife said she preferred the Norman!
* My Medium Rare Wagyu Rump the second time was again delicious, if a little overdone for my liking. It was well presented with a fresh, crisp salad, good chips and with a better than average (for a pub) mushroom sauce.

Bad points:
* My wife's steak - a crying shame: unseasoned (she asked the waiter nicely if the chef could season her steak this time), not rested (both our steaks were bleeding when they arrived - a sign they were either cooked too quick, or not rested after cooking), a blackened, charred flavour, and overcooked (half of it was cooked to a well-done bouncy grey)
* It was pointless mentioning it to the manager as he launched into an emotional defence that the steaks 'were not UNDERcooked', then stormed off to the kitchen ostensibly to kick the chef. Huh? I said they were OVERcooked! What's going on here? I tried to clear it up afterwards but he seemed to be having difficulties dealing with the twin concepts of cuisson, and feedback from customers.

Yes, we paid the full bill.
No, we didn't ask for/weren't offered a discount.
Yes, we will look elsewhere for Brisbane's best steak.

HORRIBLE @ The Glades Tavern

Called to book and had to seat yourself at any table free, took 1 1/4 hrs to recieved entres and mains came at same time, order where incorrect. When talked to manager got told too bad. We have been going to the tavern since it opened and it has still not gotten and better. This will be the last time we eat to The Glades Tavern.

Disappointing @ Pepe's Coorparoo

Not great mexican food at all. Beans watery, sauce on enchiladas tasted like it was out of a can.
Service very ordinary.
No handles on toilet doors?
Overall - wasn't worth the money. Would much rather drive the extra distance and visit Montezumas!

The best steak in Brisbane? @ Embers

I would have to disagree with the reviews on this site for Embers - in my opinion, and I have eaten at all of the so-called "best steak restaurants" on the East coast of Australia, the steak at Embers surpasses all. My wife and I have dined there regularly for over a year (at least twice a month) and have never received anything less than exceptional food and service. If your steak isn't cooked right (and your ordered it differently, ask to have it replaced and I'm sure it will be done).

Sometimes people get it wrong and can only improve if they have been told, why not grow up and stop telling tales on the internet.

If you're looking for an excellent steak or fantastic ribs get to Embers and make up your own mind.

Overall: Love it!
