What a great and unique place! Never been anywhere like it .... The decor was warming, all the purple and orange, even as far as all the staff wearing it, it made it feel so cosy, especially on the wintery day that we were there. The staff were very attentive and did everything that they could to accomodate our requests. The food came out super fast and was devine - all of it. We had the homemade soup and nachos to start, just delicious. For main we tried the fajitas, which were very tasty. Desserts..... there was so much variety and they were all home made, all sounding mouth watering.
The Lido is a place I will definitely visit again and will tell everyone about. I couldn't fault the whole experience. The menu is huge, which may sound daunting, but it's what makes it great, you can take anyone there, as there really is something for everyone. So much thought has gone in to it all.
Take my advice, honestly .... GO! …

Lido is part of the Race course Rd cafe strip at Ascot. I had dinner there and was not that blown away by the food. The menu has an overload of choose your own adventure pasta/pizza dishes. The menu is very long and a bit like hard work choosing something, it runs for about 4 pages.
I had lamb shanks which were in a watery Thai inspired curry sauce. With chunks of large carrot hovering in the broth, a bit disappointing and just a bit boring really. The flavours didn't grab me, the dish was insipid. My date ordered a beef pie. However be warned, it was one of those trick menu's where you think you are getting a pie but instead you get a bowl of pie filling, with triangular strips of what seemed to be toasted lavash bread stuck into the bowl of meat vertically. He was disappointed, all he really wanted was a proper meat pie. Although the filling had some great robust flavours.
The service is adequate and the decor fun. It's all orange and purple but there is nothing overwhelmingly special about Lido. It is an average cafe. I found it a little expensive for the quality of the meals but perhaps for lunch they are amazing
