Perhaps we happened to walk into this cafe on an extremely bad day, but we walked away with a bitter taste in our mouths that's for sure. After 4 people out of our group were finally served our meals (breakfast) after a half an hour wait, the other 2 in the group got to watch us eat. After another ten minutes, one of the other two was served his meal. Unfortunately the one remaining missing meal still did not emerge after a further ten minutes (a total of 50 minutes from taking our order). After staff took his order once again, there was a glimmer of hope that he might get fed that day. Unfortunately, given time restraints we had to leave 15 minutes later when his meal still had not appeared (over an hour after we'd ordered!). …

we have been in Brisbane now for about 8 months. Do you know that I can count the amount of good coffee I have had since being here on one hand. That's right, it seems that Brisbane is a city dominated by coffee that could at best be described as mediocre. So, it was a nice surprise to stumble upon the newsroom cafe. Coffee machine - check. Counter staff who looked at least interested - check. And glasses for their lattes - hooray not giant soup bowls. Anyone who is in the least bit into their coffee knows that it is quality not quantity. I digress, the coffee was good, not great but certainly good enough for me to return there. It catches the morning sun and is a great spot to enjoy the papers and the coffee earlier on in the day. The smoothies were also very good, particularly the honey, banana and cinnamon and my plate of scrambled eggs was delivered promptly. All in all I felt optimistic about the coffee scene here as I stepped out the door. …

I recently took part in our "Girl's Night Xmas Dinner" at Brents (we meet each month at a different restaurant and have been for 15 years!) We each indulged in the Degustation Menu... Wow! Tasty morsels at each step with brilliantly matched wines served by an attentive, yet unobtrusive, well-informed waiter. Each wine sensationally complemented the food which was truly innovative and creative. Presentation was a joy to behold. We were well satisfied and surprised by each of the 8 courses - it was difficult to single any one of the tasting plates as each shone for its own attributes! …
