The Metropolitan Opera NEW SEASON: NOV. 2011 – MAY 2012 at Dendy Cinemas Portside Seven new productions, including a world premiere, a Met premiere, and the complete Ring cycle, will headline THE MET: CAPTURED LIVE IN HD 2011/12 season at Dendy Cinemas Portside The season opens November 5 with the first-ever Met performance of Donizetti’s ANNA BOLENA, starring Anna Netrebko with her portrayal of the ill-fated queen driven insane by her unfaithful king. Other highlights include the world premiere of THE ENCHANTED ISLAND, a pastiche of Baroque music and Shakespearean comedy; Tony Award-winning stage directors Michael Grandage and Des McAnuff make their Met debuts with new productions of DON GIOVANNI and FAUST; and James Levine conducts the final two instalments of Robert Lepage’s productions of Wagner’s RING cycle: SIEGFRIED and GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG. In its sixth season, The Met: Captured Live in HD series will feature 11 captured live productions all featuring the world’s leading singers, conductors, and stage directors.
