Do you like to have a chat over a cold drink? Do you like to meet locals and listen to their stories, their yarns , their bull.......? Do you enjoy a meal that tests even the biggest appetite ? If you answered yes to any of the above then a visit to The Barron River Hotel should be on the itinerary of anyone who plans to visit Cairns. Situated on the northern edge of Cairns City( just a 10min drive from the central area of Cairns) it is a world away from the hectic pace of todays modern cities.Like most trdaitional pubs it offers the usual facilities of pool table, pokies, Keno tab and friendly locals only too keen to engage you in conversation. The restaurant boasts a wide variety of food choice with the local specialty of lamb shanks seemingly very popular...and all the meals will test even the biggest of appetites. The staff are always courteous and friendly but also seemingly very happy in the job. The hotel boasts a unique set up catering to smokers due to current smoking laws that you simple have to experience youself ( so no clues here). I definetly recommend a visit by anyone with time to spare in Cairns. …
