Queenscliff
Welcome to the legendary BLUES TRAIN!
one steam train
four carriages
200 people
...and Australia's best blues musicians
For something decidedly different and entirely enjoyable, Queenscliff's legendary Blues Train is one of the Geelong region's most spectacular dining and entertainment experiences.
Nothing captures the spirit of the blues quite like a steam train and anyone who's witnessed the delights of the Bellarine peninsula from the nostalgic ambience of the Blues Train has experienced something truly special.
As the vintage steam train makes its way between stops, gently rocking from side-to-side, seemingly in beat with the music coming from the bands, patrons sit back in comfort enjoying both the scenery and the show over a beer or wine and a good laugh.
With a capacity of 200 (50 in each of the four carriages) it has become enormously popular as a function venue and can accommodate parties of one to 200 people for a unique dinner or lunch and show.
The Blues Train experience begins at Queenscliff where patrons tuck into a hearty meal. Drinks and snacks to take on the journey are available on the platform from a mobile bar that miraculously appears at each of the four stops.
At each stop revellers swap carriages to find a new band tuning-up ready for the next act. One of the carriages only has seating running along each wall. The seating arrangement and up-beat music in this carriage leaves little option other than getting up for a bit of a boogie.
The Blues Train has hosted a range of quality blues acts including Jimmy Hocking, Aria Award-winner Collard, Greens and Gravy, Aria nominees Kerri Simpson and Mia Dyson, CW Stoneking, Spectrum, Chubby Rae and the Elevators, Dave Steel and Chris Wilson.
But you don't have to dig the blues to enjoy the Blues Train, you just have to be open to a really good time.
The Blues Train stops at historic homestead Suma Park and Drysdale before turning around and making its way back to Queenscliff, again stopping at Suma Park.
