Albert River Wines, one of Queensland’s premier boutique wineries, has opened its doors for business at one of the State’s oldest and most historic properties, Tamborine House. Boutique wineries, by definition, are those whose wines are only available for purchase directly from the winery. Such is the case with Albert River Wines.
As their wines are only available through the cellar door, mail order, and at select restaurants, a trip to Albert River Wines is a worthwhile experience, whether you are an avid connoisseur or casual quaffer. The wines are handcrafted in limited quantities by winemaker Peter Scudamore- Smith, one of Queensland’s two Masters of Wine.
As ‘Best Tourism Winery’ winner of the prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards for 2003, 2004 and 2005, in 2006 Albert River Wines will be inducted into the Queensland Tourism Hall of Fame.
A family-owned and operated company, proprietors David & Janette Bladin have succeeded in their goal of establishing a ‘uniquely-Queensland’ winery experience. As well as creating an environment in which people feel comfortable learning more about wine and food matching, they have sought to generally de-mystify wine.
