Woodchoppers Inn, Mudgeeraba

"Winedine"
Parking:On the street. Plenty spaces Service: Somewhat slow but then again this is the Gold Coast and everything is laid back and a little casual. The service was good from the waitress but I suspect they were pushed to the Max. I counted only 3 serving staff, they could have done with one more. The service was not bad, it just could have been better. Presentation: The food is beautifully presented, with a hint of Australian " Bush Tucker " for want of a better word e.g. Buffalo and Kangaroo are on the menu. I ordered the Prime Eye fillet blue, ( normal for Tony ) half expecting to be served rare at best. It was a delight to find a second chief on the Coast who knew how to cook a perfect BLUE steak. It was excellent and aged to perfection, at least 8 weeks if not more. My dining partner had the rack of lamb and it too was superb. The dessert was a strawberry tart served with fresh cream and a Cointreau Anglasse, just plain YUMMMMY Wine List: Tried the Stone Sauvignon Blanc ( Marlborough N.Z ) Full of that passion fruit notes. A good wine list and some equally good labels but a bit too pricey. Value for Money: As always you get what you pay for. Good food, good atmosphere and top prices to match. You are not going to walk away for under a $100 for 2 people. I think our account came to $120.00 +. Ambiance: Outdoor and indoor dinning in a semi bush setting. Lovely at sunset. And we were not attacked by mozzies. ( How do they do that ?? ). Yep not too bad at all The feel good factor: It was hard to judge this, if it is pub grub it has to be the TOP end for pub grub food. Yet they made it feel more restaurant than Pub. Well my main criteria is would I go back? The answer is YES. It is not fine dining but it is good dining in a very good atmosphere. There are a few things that could be made better like a few cushions on the hard timber chairs and a bit more serving staff. But overall it was GOOD. …
