A new play by award winning author HOA PHAM (Silence)

SHIREEN an Indian international student ends up in Maribyrnong detention centre. Trapped with ANIA and CON her only visitor is HUONG her Vietnamese-Australian lawyer. It is enough to drive her mad...or is she? Based on true stories and the history of the Maribyrnong Detention site, I COULD BE YOU will make you think twice about immigration in Australia.

Hoa Pham is a psychologist, author and playwright. Her plays include Silence which was on the VCE list for 2010, her books include Vixen and Quicksilver. She is also the founding editor of Peril, an a Asian-Australian arts and culture online magazine. Her recent awards include an Australia Council residency in Ireland, and a literary exchange to Berlin. She is also completing a doctorate of creative arts at the University of Western Sydney. FUNDRAISING PERFORMANCES:
Friday 24th September's performance of "I could be you" is a fundraiser for The Greens Victoria, the only political party to stand up for refugee human rights. $5 from each ticket sale will go to the Greens for the Victorian State Election Campaign.

Tuesday 5th October tickets will be $20 with $5 per ticket will go to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, the largest asylum seeker aid, health and advocacy centre in Australia.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
