Good Beer Week
In 2011, the first Good Beer Week appeared as if from nowhere, growing from the spark of an idea to a glorious celebration of the beer world in just a few weeks.
In 2012, the festival grew up fast. The number of events more than doubled to over 100 as more venues and breweries jumped on board. Alongside beer dinners and beer launches was a kaleidoscopic array of events, from beer cocktail masterclasses and lessons in making beer chocolates to beer-themed scavenger hunts and chances to get up close with some of the world’s leading brewers as they brewed unique beers.
Guests flocked to Melbourne and Victoria from across Australia and overseas. Among them was Brendan Moylan, founder of Californian brewery Moylan’s, Champion Exhibitor at the 2011 Australian International Beer Awards, who declared it the “best, most professional and most diverse” beer week he’d attended in his three decades in the business.
And now it's time to go again.
For the third Good Beer Week, it's safe to say the team putting the festival together has been blown away by the program. Our aim was always to raise the bar – seeking quality rather than quantity from our events – in our mission to take Australia’s leading celebration of beer to another level.
And, boy, did the beer world respond. We're hugely excited about the lineup this year and hope you are too. We've got more top notch events that appeal to everyone from beer novices to hardened beer geeks. More amazing guests. More ingenious concepts that redefine the possibilities of beer events. And more regional events to encourage the spread of good beer outside the major centres. All of which means more good times and memories to last a lifetime.
Good Beer Week is a not for profit festival that takes place across Melbourne and Victoria from May 18 to 26.
