Palmwoods guide & map

I have just relocated from the Gold Coast to Palmwoods recently. As part and parcel of a new location, we thought it might be nice to check out a few of the local haunts. Cafe De Orient was our first and was a surprise we were not really expecting. The place is busy, packed and this probably more of an indication of two things; 1) the food is really good 2) there are few other places to eat in Palmwoods. Regardless, the 30 minutes we had to wait only made us appreciate the quality of food more. The food was fresh and every dish (out of 9 or so), was not only spectacular but cooked well. The restaurant also houses an exciting mix of choices, from thai, to chinese, to indonesian... Very very god, well worth a visit. …

Went to Cafe de Orient Sat night to see if we could get a table, there were tables free but they said no, so we ordered takeaways... told it would be 30 mins for 2 meals, came back 30 mins later, waited another 25mins for our meals, they had half of it sitting waiting for 10mins getting cold, didn't even say sorry for the wait. We got it home and they hadn't put the lid on the curry properly, so the sauce went everywhere in the bag and on my pants. I got an indonesian curry, it was super greasy and tasted horrible couldn't eat it. When we were waiting in the restaurant for our food it was really noisy, people talking really loudly and we were glad we didn't get a table. I'm never going back there again. They are really stingy on their portion sizes also, especially compared to other Thai restaurants on the Coast and they are expensive. …

When I went to the Palmwoods Hotel I found it to be a great experience.The hotel is so well set out as I could enjoy a beautiful meal and a quiet bottle of organic wine with my husband, while the children played in the play area which included play stations and an undercover climbing fort. Overall the service and food were great. Highly recommended for a great night out. …
