ARTIST DMITRY KUZNICHENKO 'LIPSTICK & THE MOON' ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS Beautiful imaginative semi sentimental humourous observations about people and places. Come join us over a glass of wine to view new works by the artist Dmitry Kuznichenko. THURSDAY 11th March 6-8pm Opening night All works may be purchased. Inspirational words by the artist....As long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated by light. The mysterious play between shadow and light gains even more power outdoors. In collaboration with the landscape, light constructs huge rehearsals every day, allowing someone to shine and someone to stay in shadow. I seek such effects in these paintings, where the proportion of shadow and light is very different in each work. The storyline itself also becomes a metaphorical source of light, where characters create their own luminescence. “I love her shiny red hair” thinks the dog in Terracotta Moon (painting), and the hair starts radiating so much light that it illuminates the bridge and surroundings. There is a strong sentimental and personal thread through the work. Be it my daughter’s shoes, which found their way into my studio after she had outgrown them (Foot for Thought-painting), or the cheeky magpie on an old lawnmower accompanying the couple caressing under the Grevillea tree (In Tune-painting). But the point is how quickly the light changes… My works are filled with joy, humour and affirmation of life, but there is an awareness of impermanence of things and the possibility of change, what some would call the darker side. I’m glad it exists in my work.
