Bookings & Enquiries:
This event has now passed
Following last years reveled induction, Sounds In The Grounds will return to Sydney University on Saturday October 18th, 2008.
Reverberating over two floors of Manning House will be the masters of intergalactic space revelry MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS who’ll
trudged the international festival circuit (Primavera, Coachella, Glastonbury & Fuji Rock) as well as shows across USA, Mexico and the
UK before performing their only NSW show and first Australian show since March. The release of Dystopia and its relentless stomp of
techno-meets-disco singles Road To Recovery, Shadows and Tombstone has scored the band high-rotation on Triple J and a legion
of local followers while further into the stratosphere they've been pounced on by BBC1 and MTV2 UK/Europe following the album’s release
internationally.
Joining the festivities will be BRITISH INDIA who’ll be bringing their arm-raising, air-punching anthems to the Manning Bar, armed with a
new high-octane album Thieves. Following the acclaimed debut album featuring radio favourites Black & White Radio, Tie Up My Hands
and Run The Red Light British India have developed a hard-earned reputation for explosive live shows.
With the release of the anticipated LP V, VAN SHE will be partying across the country with their oh-so-sexy future vintage sounds
following their debut at #10 on the ARIA chart. In what is to be a huge year for Van She, these new-wave rockers will be joined by
Melbourne three-piece CHILDREN COLLIDE who'll present tracks off their forthcoming album Social Currency recorded in LA with
massive rock super-producer Dave Sardy. The title track Social Currency is a promising teaser to follow their two EPs and with a
notorious live set, they’ll be hard to miss.
Injecting foolery into Sound In The Grounds will be raucous electro-hip hoppers, BLUEJUICE. Equipped with radio hits including
Vitriol off their highly rated and aptly named debut LP Problems, this rag-tag bunch of pirates have enrolled alongside fellow Sydney
psychedelic beat-makers LOST VALENTINOS. Since the ferocious 7” release 17 Deaths to follow the synth-laden indie-rock tracks
Man With a Gun & Rain, the five-piece have been recording their new album.
Echoing down the halls will be NUMBERS RADIO who since being unearthed by Triple J have sprung out of Brisbane with their brand
of high energy Rock n’ Roll by way of the infectious radio track Come On lifted from their self-titled debut EP. They will be joined by
electro-indie youngsters and inaugural Triple J Unearthed High winners [IS] who are gearing up for the release of their debut EP
following of their winning song Cult Romance.
