Aurora Stadium is the sole location for AFL football in Tasmania until at least 2010, and also hosts VFL football, as well as regional football and a host of other sporting and entertainment events.
Part of the Tasmanian Institute of Sport (TIS), the Silverdome is a multi-purpose facility with a focus on sporting users, particularly netball and cycling.
The Silverdome Complex has a range of rooms and areas available for hire. It can cater for:
* large and small sporting events
* community events
* meetings
* training
* exhibitions
* concerts.
Sporting users have priority booking status, in particular for the arena space and cycling track.
The Silverdome is located off Oakden Road at Prospect - signs at the Prospect roundabout lead the way to the venue. It is bounded by the Midland and Bass Highways.

* Launceston CBD - 6km (approx 8 minutes)
* Launceston Airport - 16km (approx 12 minutes)
* Hobart CBD - 198km (approx 2 hours)
* Devonport ferry terminal - 97km (approx 1 hour)
Construction started on the Silverdome in 1984 and the venue held its first event in 1985. The facility operated as a Government Business Enterprise from its opening until 2007.
It is now owned and operated by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts and is managed by the Tasmanian Institute of Sport (Sport and Recreation Tasmania).
