Tom's Tavern, Aitkenvale
  reviewed by Johny
"Better than average place!"
Tom's Tavern is more than just a suburban pub it offers a busy restaraunt, gaming area and a public bar. The food is of a higher standard but to be honest is dear for what you get. On the other hand they do have some certain items on the menu which are quiet affordable and to my surprise was of good quality. The place does feel large and not enclosed in and that certainly helps when the place is full of people. It has been decorated to a more than satisfactory standard and is well layed out. The service is mid range and what you would expect but they do know what they are doing. They also do have a drive through bottle O which is handy to some. Overall Tom's Tavern is a nice place to go if you wish to have a nice meal in comfortable surroundings for the normal person. Some certain items on the menu are to over priced for what is served but on the other hand other items are worth what you pay. …

Vale Hotel, Aitkenvale

"Drinking your thing?"
The Vale is mostly frequented by lots of men drinking both after work and when in large groups. The place is large enough to fit 200+ people at any given time but also feels roomy. They do food only during lunch I take it as I was there late at night when the place was full of guys drinking, betting and playing pool. Certainly not the place to take your lady friend if your try to score some points. They have a large range of alcahol mostly beer and prices are actually quiet affordable compared to some other places in Townsville. The service was good and efficient. Summing it all up The Vale is a place to go with some mates and have afew drinks and maybe a meal if your in the mood. It certainly fits the profile of your local pub but most first timers will walk away satisfied. …
